I loved The Monkees' TV antics too imaof4.
I've been enjoying watching the short series of programmes on the BBC about pop. There were programmes about boy bands, girl bands and solo artists. They seemed to feature groups etc mostly from my era. Couldn't help thinking there wasn't much to appeal to today's younger people in the programmes but I thought they were great.
Hope everyone is having a good week. I'll have a cappuccino Sam and a bacon butty if you can stretch to that - I'm hungry.
ETA: Happy Mother's Day. We're off swimming to celebrate.

Swimming? How innovative Phyllis! We usually do a meal (at home or restaurant). Happy Mother's Day to all the mums! Some non-caloric goodies, seeing as we are in a virtual bar!

We had some chips afterwards imaof4 and we stopped off on the way home to buy some cakes for later. Not scones like the ones in your pic, but just as yummy.

Sounds like great fun, a swim, then some yummy indulgences! ;D The scones themselves, really not so caloric... It's the clotted cream and jam... but I wouldn't have it any other way. And when I think of cake, I'dd have in mind those so exquisitely designed petits fours - almost too lovely to eat (and yet we manage to, eh?:D)

My favourite cake is Battenburg and probably any cake that involves marzipan. Years ago I used to be able to get little mini ones which had each end dipped in chocolate and a little bit of butter cream between the sponge and the marzipan. Oh how I wish I could get my hands on some of them again.
I had a lovely apple fritter in Starbucks yesterday.

Ah Springtime! When a young woman's fancy turns to thoughts of... food? My thoughts are all of gardening at the moment. We have had a complete week of heat that has broken all temperature records over the past 140 years! It's 11am and 74 -- er, 23C with the high expected to be 28...on what we traditionally call the First Day of Spring! I hope some of this is making its way over to you in the UK.

Wow olenza, that's hot for March It's been gorgeous and very springlike here - I've got a pair of ducks nesting on my pond and all the daffs are out Need the weather to stay like this till the 31st when I've got a very special wedding ;D

Yes olenza, that is hot for March! I don't even want to think about gardening as I've got that much of it that needs doing! Still if the spring-like weather continues I might do some this weekend. I cant believe that we're nearly at the end of March - I love this time of year. jinxed, hope the weather stays the same for your very special wedding

Just poking my head in to say, "Hello, strangers." Really, though, I'm the stranger. I should start coming around more often.

Don't worry, UTD, it's always good to hear what you have to say. And you do post often enough that we aren't worrying where you've disappeared to.... Besides, although Sam has been alone in the Bar for weeks at a time I know that conversations here--and in the forum generally--will perk up as we get close to the opening of Betrayal.
