I read this on the TRA Twitter feed yesterday afternoon but couldn't get near a computer until now to *SQUEE* about it!!
I feel so spoilt - after years of complaining i never got to see any exciting theatre locally, Sheffield Crucuible pulls out all the stops and gives me John Simm twice inside 2 years!!
I cannot wait! Though i must say i LOATHE Harold Pinter. I studied him for my Theatre Studies A Level and hated every second. Though if any man can change my opinion of Pinter i'm pretty sure it's John!

I would love to see this but unfortunately I can't. Another one of my favorite actors is Michael Sheen. I remember there is a clip of MS and Janie Dee performing a scene from Betrayal for a Harold Pinter Celebration. Here is the clip on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67-u-z_e3Vo
Another coincidence is that MS is also playing Hamlet starting at the end of this month at the Young Vic theatre! I hope that they record one of the performances either for a dvd or as a live broadcast like the production of Frankenstein. Hamlet seems to be one of Shakespeare's most popular play at the moment.
A third coincidence is that MS played Brian Clough in the film The Damned United while JS narrated the novel!!! God I love them both

I'm sure JS has a TV/film project in the works, or soon will. There's still Seven Days, perhaps Winterbottom's Beatles biopic (fingers crossed). May seems so far away ...

OMG! Déjà vu all over again!! My heart skipped a beat at the news!! Thanks for the scoop PP (via capribird)
I will try my bestest to see it with it being such a short run. It's hard for me to get the time off school.... (er, some of us have a substantial journey to Sheffield as well...)
OK, no excuses, concentrating on possibilities, and if it's to be, then it will be!!

Had an opportunity to watch this clip - thank-you for sharing merlange11! I wholeheartedly agree with you that Michael Sheen's marvellous. Own the dvd of Damned United, and yes it would be quite exciting if they recorded one of his stage performances of Hamlet... a shadow of a stage performance, but at least a glimpse.

Went into Waterstone's yesterday and bought a copy of Betrayal. Spent this morning reading the play and trying to imagine the scenes. All I can say is that can't wait to see this live!
Jinxed, Sheffield is fast becoming my second home too! This will be the fifth play I have gone to see there in the past 12 months

I'm not far behind in my luckiness - my home is Leeds, so only a 40 minute drive away!

Is anyone picking tentative dates to get tickets for Betrayal? i.e., before press night or after? (and then May or June?) weekend or weeknight? Something tells me this show will sell out fast!
Perhaps Sheffield is not as accessible a venue as London, but is there any interest in meeting up with others from this forum and attending the same performance?

I would love to go on the same night (or two or three) as some other forum members. I'm shooting for a matinee+evening performance (Thursday or Saturday, I think) and an evening performance before or after. Gots to get some Simm while I can!
Work is the only thing that I need to take into consideration. And the dark nights.
I know that tickets go on sale on Nov. 19. Do we know what time? And I assume details about the production will go up before then.
I just emailed Sheffield Theatres regarding membership. You get to purchase tickets a week earlier!

Peter Popper, if I remember correctly (I have slept since then) the tickets for Hamlet went on sale at ten o'clock in the morning so I am presuming that the tickets for Betrayal will be similar.
Not sure what night(s) I will be going yet. Work's the only thing I need to take into consideration. Oh and the accommodation. Better start saving those pennies... .

Hi all!
The booking opens at 9.30am on 19 November....yep, I know these strange facts.....
I'll be booking with students so, it'll be whenever we can get the £10 tickets. I'll let you know when I manage to book and when for. Hopefully, if I get in there quick; they'll book me front row seats again so look out for the wee mad lassie with a group of 27 giddy A Level students.....behaving ourselves as always xxx
