Hello! Longtime lurker, but thought I'd login to share Elling experience.
Those of you who've been before would have noticed that they were having a very good time on stage, extending some jokes - the telephone scene for example. At the cabin, when they exchange underpants, Adrian "flashed" his pants and said, "How do I look?", and John bent over double laughing. It was hilarious. And he ad-libbed in character too, responding "Rare" with the same hand-wave he gave Raedun when he first used that word to describe Kjell Barn. Genius. There were a few others, like Adrian ruffling John's hair, which Adrian clearly enjoyed. The atmosphere was amazing, and the crowd definitely increased the hilarity of the event, they were laughing so hard. I'd seen it a month or so before, and we seemed quite sedate in comparison.
Kate Magowan was in the audience, looking extremely gorgeous and happy, and John was looking at her at the curtain call and smiling. Awww. There was lots of cheering at the end, and a standing ovation. I suspect a lot of friends and family were in the audience too. So glad I went to the last night!

Hi there - I had a great day but a bit different to everyone else's I think.
I had lunch with an Australian friend in Covent Garden and then got invited to the Walkabout (Oz pub) to watch the rugby world cup quarter final between England and Australia. I think I was there as the joke English whipping boy (or girl) but the joke was on them because we WON - HAH!!!
Further celebrations were planned but I insisted that I took my ticket back to the Trafalgar Studios as a return first (I couldn't bear for JS to look up and see empty seats on his last night!). Whilst my friend and I were going through this at the box office they took a call in which two tickets were returned. Once I was at the theatre my desire to see the show returned, so my lovely mate agreed that we should purchase these two tickets, despite this meaning that I'd just spent almost £90 on just my ticket - that's what alcohol does for you I guess.
The tickets were for the fourth row which was much closer up than the row I was supposed to be, which was a major result, but a bit to the side. Still it was wonderful - as others have reported, the cast have added bits of 'business' throughout the run, and certain bits got huge rounds of applause. Nothing compared to the standing ovation at the end however - it was richly deserved.
We had popped out to the box office at half time and they had sold my original ticket so luckily my evening only cost me £45 instead of £90!
I had never intended to go backstage and as my friend is a chunky rugby player it would have looked a bit odd with him hanging around with the girlies. I did see a number of women massing outside the theatre when we left to go and find something to eat, so I expect there was quite a scene around there. I wonder if he came out with the flowers we sent!
So farewell, Elling. I will never forget you and your half-mast trousers. Thanks for the fun!
Wow, what a fantastic weekend I have just had. Meeting up with a great group of fellow JS admirers and going to both the matinee and evening performances on the last day!
For the matinee, I had a seat on the second row and I could not believe how close it was to all the action! I could have reached out and touched John, he was sooo close (but I did behave myself and stayed in my seat ). I could see every detail and expression on his face. Although the actors moved around the stage, a lot of John's scenes were done in front of me. I was captivated by his performance; he really is an excellent comedy actor and his timing is perfect. Althought there were poignant moments in Elling, I have to say I sat with a huge grin on my face most of the way though. It was a real feel good play.
It felt pretty surreal at first and I kept thinking to myself "this is John Simm in front of you"! He looked so different than in all his other roles, yet at the same time,I could see glimpses of the John I recognised. When he and Adrian were moving the beds around, John's expression changed and he looked himself again. Also, in one scene, Adrian ruffled John's hair out of it's gelled down style and that made a big difference too.
At the end of the performance, I stood up to give a standing ovation, and most people did the same; it was well deserved.
At 7.30, it was back to the theatre, ready for the second performance. They brought the house down once again and took three curtain calls!
I have read other people's accounts and I have to agree that in the blink of an eye, at the end,John snaps out of the character of Elling and he becomes shy once again, looking almost embarrassed at the audiences cheering. Bless! I wasn't sure whether I would go to the stage door as I didn't want to make John uncomfortable or annoyed, but decided to go and see how things were. When he came out, he looked a bit overwhelmed as there was a sizeable crowd gathered. I thought, right, I'll see how he reacts and if he seems ok, I'll ask if I could possibly take his photo. He was so lovely, very shy and humble and saying "thank you" to people. I thought I would have felt nervous and shy but I didn't, so myself and my mate asked if it was ok to take his photo. He posed for us and then out of the blue, I asked if I could have my pic taken with him. (well, I won't get another chance). He obliged and for that, I am really grateful. He stayed quite some time and got round to everybody. How fantastic is that? He didn't have to. After all when we buy a ticket to see a performance, that's what we are buying, not their personal time. I was so happy to have seen Elling but this was the "icing on the cake" I just hope we didn't all overwhelm him.
He has got to be so tired after the run of the play; he put so much into his performance. I just hope that now he can take time out to relax and re-charge in peace. Thanks for a wonderful day John
(sorry to sound shallow here, but he really is gorgeous in the flesh. His skin is amazing and his eyes; phew, what can I say? ) *swoons*

(John didn't come out of the theatre with any flowers, but I heard him say to one fan if she left her present to him at the stage door, he would pick it up on his way back later.) I did ask him if he had recieved them and he said yes, and thank you very much, it was very kind.

hello, fantastic photos and reports, thanks for posting them! I'm quite envious of you. Maybe one day John will come to Australia........one day... well a girl can dream can't she!! lol

Hiya! I know we waited for over an hour to see John come out; i don't think it was too long after 11.30.
We were wondering whether he was going to show but decided to wait a while longer and he was so worth the wait! Adrian came out about 10mins before John and we had a little chat with him and also had our pics taken.
Where you there when Ralph Little came out of the stage door? He was appearing in the other studio at the Trafalgar. He was lovely, very friendly and chatty and he spent ages with the fans. Where were you in the theatre starshaped?

I was there and did get to meet Ralf, he is such a sweetie. I also completed my mission of getting a pic with Adrian but I did that before the matinee performance. Didn't see john before or after the show but I saw him the other times I went so I wasn't too upset about it
I was sitting in row D to the left I'm gutted its over, I'm going to miss Adrian flashing his undies, hahahaha

I was in row G for the evening performance. I probably saw you without realising who you were; what a shame. The problem is most of us don't know what each other looks like

I went with a friend of mine from TRA and there were supposed to be a few people going from there that we were going to meet with but that didn't end up happening. I did meet up with a couple just to drop the flowers off though but they wasn't staying for the show. Did you go to the stage door before the matinee?

No we didn't go before the matinee; I'm afraid we were in our usual place; the pub across the road We didn't think we would see anybody at that time, but we did keep spying through the pub windows to see if we could see anything happening! It was so funny; when we came out of the pub, we saw a girl sprawling herslef all over the giant Elling poster. I would never have done that! (I would have at least waited till it was dark bwahahah!)
