Hi. Just joined up. I have been lurking for a while now and thought it was about time i actually tried to join in!

I've been a fan for a few years now, ever since i saw him in The Lakes( I only watched it in the first place as it was filmed near to where i lived at the time!)

I now live in deepest, darkest Lancashire, near to where Exile was filmed ( sadly i didnt see him filming it though) :(

I am also a David tennant fan and thought it was the best thing when Simm became The Master - two very good reasons for watching Doctor Who :-*

Hiya Nellie and welcome!

Apart from The Lakes and Dr Who what else have you seen John in?
As Best Boys and Life On Mars were filmed near to where I live the two programmes will always have a special place in my heart. So will Exile as I was in Ramsbottom the day they were to be doing the filming. Sadly though didn't get to see John or any of the cast as the filming was brought forward by two days :(

Anyway please post often and don't be shy as we're all friendly here :)

Oh, kindredspirit, you poor thing! I read about the filming in our local paper the following week-too late to do anything about it then! :'(

I also realised when i watched LoM that it was what we had seen being filmed when we had been visiting my in-laws. It was being filmed in the next street to her. It was scenes from the episode where he meets his own mum.

And to think that I actually had the chance to see the cast of LOM and watch the filming being done. Oh to get that chance again! (aright I didn't know much about the cast then and I have seen/will see John in theatre, but still)

Nellie, do you mind me asking where the street where Sam meets his mother is. It looks so familar but I just can't place it :)

I think it was Brightman St. But not exactly sure. I was gutted when i saw it on-screen then realised we had been past there.

Hello Nellie, and a rather belated welcome to the forum! I don't think many people did know about LoM when they were filming the first series so you and KindredSpirit aren't alone - it is so frustrating though, isn't it - a case of 'so near, so far...' !!! I myself never watched the first series when it originally aired - must've seen The Radio Times and the trailers, but don't recall it at all, and why I didn't at least give it a look at the time I've no idea, since its just the kind of drama I like! I caught up with it on repeats a few months before S2 was due to air if I recall, and remember waiting for S2 with great excitement.

Please don't worry about not feeling brave enough to post anything fancy - I think we all feel that way to start with (I know I did - it took Jinxed to coax me out of lurk-dom!! ;D ) it's always lovely to hear other fan's thoughts and opinions on any of John's work - what you liked best or least and so on, so as Jinxed says, don't be shy!

:)

Hi and welcome Nellie [image]

I only joined a couple of months ago so pretty new here aswell.

I've seen quite a bit of John's work but not so much of the really early stuff so I sometimes feel a bit out of my depth too.

I think Sam Tyler is my favourite John character but also love Exile, Mad Dogs, State of Play and Canterbury Tales...........the list goes on ::)
