Even with the long hair he's so gorgeous. I can't believe he can look stunning wearing a bin bag and have any length hair/beard and still be a knockout. It's amazing. I think it's those eyes and the inimitable charm.

Yes, he's got that "thing" that emanates from the inside out. Like he's constantly walking around on the verge of regeneration. A golden glow... He shows emotions incredibly well, but not only that -he also shows the thoughts behind those emotions, which creates a depth we're simply not used to seeing in an actor's performance. Which is why he's so indescribably gorgeous, and why we are so in lust awe of his talent, I guess.
Oh, and thanks for those Raskolnikov pics, jinxed. I do love me some Rodya.

I agree with you all - John can make the most unappealing, well, appealing!Call me weird, tend to like a bloke clean shaven with short hair, and um well, clean (silly me!!) The photos jinxed so kindly shared evoke an array of emotions, and I can't say it's the photos alone, as I of course seen C&P before these stills. Even so, I would deem them guh worthy.
How about this searing look from a man who's been in the same clothes for 20 some odd years... ( long hair, beard and all - near iconic image).

Couldn't have put it better myself. I keep looking at my new avatar... I find myself falling more and more for Daniel Appleton. Daniel is quite ordinary, but John still makes him, somehow, completely captivating. When you've seen Daniel, it's completely mind-boggling that the same person who portrayed him is able to conjure up the Master. Unbelievable.

What a sleuth you are, finding these piccies jinxed!
"Anyone like a bite of his sausage " Er, um, since you asked the essential question, I think I'd take a bit in me mouth *omg, I said that aloud! *
Who's the really scruffy looking bloke in the foreground (and no redeeming features in the looks department) that our boy's evidently scared off? And the one seated back, JS's character must have said something God awful...
Their sensibilities must have be quite offended when they heard a few ladies were willing to take advantage of his sausage...
On the theme of rough (as in living rough), piccie from Chiller's The Mirror Man. Face it a character that's quite delusional, homicidal and, um not to trivialise an outstanding performance, well cute??

Ok, that was "inspiring," to say the least. Goodness... Thanks, jinxed! Where's that second one from?
Here are some captures that help explain my love of all things Daniel. This scene could easily have felt like he was taking advantage of the situation, but John gives him such tenderness... I know I completely melted when I first saw this...

Oooh, snog-fest à la- Simm - spoil me girlfriend, I won't mind!! Just turned into a puddle on the floor ((sigh) *but oddly talented enough to keep on typing... *
That man is hawt, and he can effect the most provocative kisses!!
I concur UTD. The scene in it's entirety was quite moving precisely because of Daniel's sensitivity. Daniel feels acutely for Elena, her suffering and how she continues to suffer because of her sister. There was such depth of pathos in that kiss, not strictly sexual. It was if through this act of tenderness as you aptly described, he wanted to give of himself, to share loving attention, to hold Elena.
This was an extremely difficult programme to watch, I could only do it in small bits at a time...
