;D Yes... he's an eclectic twitter-er... ;D He didn't half have a go at that bigot who said dreadful things about Fabrice Muamba, didn't he! He doesn't hold back... it's always shocking when someone so young is struck down like that. I do hope he recovers (I know nothing and could care less about the game TBH but poor bloke...). Not a very nice Mother's Day for his mum...

I think so 2shy - a photo John tweeted fairly early on shows him clean-shaven too. Now we just have to wait until next year to see it... (assuming it airs early part of 2013 - maybe we'll get it earlier though since this time last year they hadn't even started shooting Series 2... we can but hope!)

Based on this Monday morning tweet, I guess John had another reason to visit London, besides the Baftas and seeing the family:

Maple Street Studios@MapleStStudios
We had the amazing @john_simm in our studios this morning. What a pro - and what a voice.

Watch (listen?) for an upcoming Simm radio spot!

I was thinking more radio advert, but audiobook or singing would be great :)

John has tweeted part one of a three part interview with Gore Vidal. From everything I heard on the Today Programme / PM yesterday he sounds like he was a formidable man - the word patriarchal was used a lot. I don't think I'd like or agree with everything he said or wrote (would anyone?) but at least I now know who one of my favourite quotes, "Good work never goes unpunished." , came from. I'll try to watch the interview later.

@john_simm Part 1 of a brilliant 3 part 2008 interview with the Great Gore Vidal. He'll be greatly missed. #RIP #gorevidal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKilMhR-X48&feature=youtube_gdata_player

He's a key witness. So could you treat him like a person, Phyllis. D'you remember "people"? You used to be one!

Unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember the roaring debates between Vidal and William Buckley. I think those "discussions" helped me figure out where I stood politically.

Here's an example of a Vidal/Buckley debate:

I've certainly heard of Gore Vidal, being somewhat familiar with his historical novels (particularly about Burr and Lincoln).

Watching this interview from twitter... wow! :o

Thanks for sharing Phyllis!

PP, do you know where the rest of this debate is? The clip seems just a start - got the idea Vidal was against and Buckley was for, eh? ;)

Can't vouch for the quality (my speakers are on the fritz), but here's the first part of 5:
