One Moment in Time (DW fanfic - Master/OC)

Hi there - this is my first time posting any of my fanfic on here, so I'm a bit nervous.

This is a link to the first story I have written in a series, featuring the Simm!Master and my OC, Tejana.

Summary: What if the Doctor had a daughter from an arranged marriage before he ever originally ran away from Gallifrey? Tejana has known the Master all her life, what if she was sent back to the Last Day of the Time War with him? And what if they needed each other to escape? Post EoT, Master/OC

WARNING: This is a romance fic and does have a tiny bit of non-explicit sexual content and adult themes. (However, I have been advised by one of the admins that this story is OK to post in this section, as long as I include this warning).

I would love any feedback anyone can give me, so if you would like to leave review on the story over at FFN, I would be stoked :)

;D Hey Brownbug, it's great to see that you posted! I have to say that I'm addicted to your Master stories - they are all so beautifully written and whilst I'll admit that I don't often go for stories where one of the main characters is an OC ('Original Character' for anyone here not familiar with the terminology) I am SO glad I that did read the first one of your series, which got me hooked - the way you write SimmMaster is brilliant, and your OC, Tejana, is such a well-written and fully fleshed character whom I've come to care a lot about over the series of stories.

I particularly enjoy the way you keep up the suspense from chapter to chapter - they almost read like episodes and I can easily imagine them as if they were on television - the characters are true to canon and the plots are real page-turners!

I'm sure readers here will become fans of your work just as I have done, and I hope that if they do, they will be kind enough to leave a comment. To anyone who has read and not commented, I'd say please, please do - knowing that someone enjoys your work is a real boost for any writer, but particularly for fanfic writers who are unable to judge from sales (unlike professional writers).

I'm partway through your 'The Master's Rose' story right now and if it was a physical book in my hands I would have trouble putting it down!

Oh, thank you SO much for your recommendation, EDZEL2 - as you know, it delights me no end how much you enjoy them.

As edzel2 said it's sometimes difficult to introduce an original character but this one works so well and you've slotted her into the mythology seamlessly. Looking forward to the rest - thanks for posting :-*

Thanks very much, jinxed, I'm very happy you're enjoying it.

You are right, it is hard to get people to like an OC (or even to read a story with an OC in it). I was very nervous about posting on here, for that very reason. It's one thing to be able to convince general Dr Who fans - it's a whole other thing to convince a bunch of devoted Simm!Master fans :-[

So I appreciate your feedback very very much :)

Hi again, everyone!

Just wanted to say that I have now finished the fifth installment in the 'One Moment in Time' series, entitled 'The Master's Rose'. It took over a year to write and ended up being over 190,000 words, so I'm so very proud of my achievement in finally bringing it to a close.

Huge thanks to edzel2, who has already read and reviewed nearly every chapter, which has been amazing and a massive encouragement.

Have read and felt a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure in the reading!! You've captured that dichotomy of the Master being the ultimate baddie and being sympathetic at the same time, where the reader feels the conflict within Tejana acutely.

Nightmare sequence was suitable horrific and a most clever devise for building intimacy between the Master and Tejana. Use of their childhood names furthered this aim.

Ending was fantastic, leaving a vital connection.

After a well deserved rest, do write more!!!!

My critique, as it is, has been written in general terms to leave out potential spoilers. Will try to write on FFN (it looks to have a space for each chapter). I make this commitment with the proviso as time (and my feeble memory! :-[) allows.
