Well, a great day for Manchester in football, though not so good for the Reds... I've just figured out what and why, and sitting here at my computer it's very quiet but I'll bet it's bedlam all over Manchester!

Loved this comment someone submitted to a live blog (while games were still in progress) on the internet:
I can't take much more of this. This could be the first ever time the words "very intense liveblog" appear on a death certificate.

Funny one olenza! :D

Even without being a footie, City winning the first Premiership in 44 years does deserve a bit of bedlam.

Commiseration for MAN U, there's always next year, eh?

A 4 day weekend and no party planned ? Unless you're a rabid anti-royalist (and every party needs a party pooper! ::)), there should be a bit of colour and fun in here to liven up the place?

I quite like this group's spirit. They probably remember a good deal of the past 60 years! ;D

;D When I was journeying back through central London yesterday on my way home from Sheffield (my final time of seeing John in 'Betrayal' :( ) there were loads of people on the tube who'd obviously been to the celebrations - never seen so much red, white and blue! Many of them were soaked to the skin but all seemed happy, if weary. As a conversation with the waiter in Ego Restaurant on Sunday lunchtime went, it wouldn't be England without rain on a bank holiday, now would it?! And boy, did it rain... I suppose one good thing about it is that at least no-one will have suffered heatstroke...!

Caught a bit of the televised flotilla last night when I got home, and was very very impressed at how long her Majesty and Prince Philip were on their feet...nine hours I think my husband reckoned. Even if you're not a Royalist you have to admire their work ethic! The Queen looked almost shell-shocked by the devotion, I thought - all those thousands (the press put it at over a million!) of people who had come out in the rain just to celebrate her being 'in the job' for sixty years.... I'm sure she felt quite humbled by it all.

Another of my favourite actors, Richard E Grant, apparently read a poem, and John Barrowman was TV presenter for the Bell Barge I've been told...

Ah, no-one does ceremony quite like us Brits! ;D

I loved watching the TV coverage with all its flaws! Especially when the rain caused the image to break up on a few occasions. I also loved how one of the presenters talked about the belfry with the Jubilee Bells as 'complete with Barrowman'. Haha! I preferred Barrowman's excited style to the dry (no pun intended!) Buckingham Palace commentator, that's for sure.

There was fantastic television coverage - the flotilla was most definitely impressive! Didn't watch the whole thing... but what I saw was lovely! ;D

And yes, the The Bell Barge was magnificent - JB had a glorious piece to present!

Massive concert in front of Buckingham Palace - definitely pulling out all the stops!

Must confess, I was tickled to learn that there were 10,000 street parties all over the UK, about the same for the coronation in 1953. :)

Wishes for a speedy and full recovery for Prince Phillip.

For the past three days my OH has had a big Union Jack flying on a pole he put out at the top of our drive, very visible to those driving by on a main road. All to alert the locals to this celebratory occasion....
