I've just come across this on LJ. I'm clueless as to how to get YouTube vids to 'embed' but hopefully I will find out soon as I've posted a techy request to UTD. I know you've told me before imaof4 but I've forgotten how to do it!
ETA:- Was using the 'embed' text instead of the direct link. Never mind.

Thanks for that, Phyllis. Wonderful piece of John's work. Related to his interests. What a sexy voice.

I remember seeing this when it was aired... really ought to get it as I don't actually own any Beatles music whatsoever, despite liking everything I've ever heard, pretty much... well Christmas is coming up (although I'm hoping someone will get me the 'Rumpole' box set...)

Not strictly youtube, but I found some cute videos from the Southbank Awards.
Click here - I hope this link works!
The middle one - the interview - is just adorable and makes me like John even more. Watch it and melt...

I know it was from 2007 - which is why I removed it (correcting my mistake), sorry if I confused you. I do tend to edit my posts furiously in the minutes after posting - I always find some mistake in what I've written, but usually nothing as grave as today. I try not to edit after other people have replied, though. Except for minor things like mistakes in spelling or links etc.

That middle vid is lovely. He seems really pleased for the writers and very self-effacing about the important part the lovely Mr Sexby played. And the poor hand ...

I know, the hand! I'm so happy I didn't know who John was when he had that car accident. Reading about it a few months after it happened wasn't as traumatic, somehow.

I went to see it with the familly at 9.30 last Sunday morning. Those were the only tickets we could get and they were starting it every half an hour in various screens!
I can't begin to say how good it is and I'll have to stop myself or I'll go on forever. I'm very cynical about Warner Brothers and the Harry Potter brand, but this is the HP film I've been waiting for. The direction and cinematography are sheer genius. The feeling of danger and suspense is maintained throughout the whole film and the effects are perfecly understated. It's not so much scary, although it does have it's scary moments, as very sad in places. My son was in tears near the end. However, I have to say that I thought the film was very intelligently directed with a superb awareness that lots of young children will be watching and a definite consideration of just the right level to pitch the scary and sad moments. They will have a very hard task to out do themselves for the second part next year. It didn't feel spun out which is all I've moaned about since I heard the last part would be made into two films. I could have watched for longer and actually felt sad when it ended. All three leads were great and there were lots of cameos from actors that have been in it previously. It's a shame that we couldn't have seen more of them. Bill Nighy plays the Minister for Magic (all too breifly for me). Must be going soft.
It's a shame that JS didn't attend as pics of him in London with his family would have been brilliant.
Can't wait to see the vids when I get home as I'm at work at the mo.
