;D I think you could be right, 2shy - although my impression is not that it came from the DW office but rather from a media journalist looking for a headline or two... with things gearing up for the 50th Anniversary and DW having started filming again on 20th Feb, there is bound to be some speculation about who might be in The Big 50' story...

That's what I'm wondering about.I mean we even don't know The Master will be back for sure, right?

I would say that Benedict taking on The Master would be about as unlikely as John becoming the twelfth Doctor... I tend to feel that BC is now too identified with the role of Sherlock for any appearance in DW to be credible, but then perhaps that is disrespectful to him as an actor since I'm sure he would do wonderful things with the role... But I'm afraid I just want to see John stay as The Master for the foreseeable future, making the odd appearance here and there, just as Delgado and Ainley did in the classic series. I'm sure there's lots they could still do with the character - they have so many brilliant writers now, after all.

I'm being OT here but there isn't much left from RTD-era.It's like some of the things never happened. But I started watching with new!Who,maybe it's always like this? When the whole production team changes.
I loved season 3 Master but for End of the Time...I don't know...Don't get me wrong, sure J.Simm was brilliant with what he had:)
So I am just curious what will Moffat and his writing team can do with the character (D'oh...all the complaints for the version of Simm)

It will be a looong wait to see if the Master might return and (more importantly as far as we're concerned!) if John will reprise the role...

To be honest, the only thing I care is to see Simm. That's why I'm waiting for this to happen so passionately ;D
Other than that,it doesn't matter to see The Master on 50th anniversary or not.

It's all over the Twitternet that John will be back as the Master this September:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2317659/

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0799591/

JS has been off the Twitter for a while. Maybe this will bring him back to affirm or deny. ;D

Erm... not sure if I'd say that it's exactly 'all over' the twitternet as I could only find three tweets actually mentioning it ;D But if it's true then :o :o :o ;D - As you say, perhaps John might re-surface to put the record straight... he did say quite recently though that he had 'no plans' to return as the Master 'in the near future' after someone told him that Moffat had said at the DW convention that he was 'desperate' to do so; but perhaps he 'couldn't' say anything at the time...?

Like Wiki, IMBD is editable by anyone though, isn't it... so I'm trying very hard NOT to get too excited just yet! But OMG that would be brilliant if true (although I'd want to see him in a 'starring' role, not just in an 'also appearing' capacity as that entry would seem to suggest...)

Thanks for the Heads Up though, PP - certainly made my heart beat a little faster for a while!! ;D

Do a search for "John Simm" as opposed to looking at only @JohnSimm tweets; there are lots of them.

I think imdb is a little more reliable than wiki, but that isn't saying much. We shall see :-/

I hope it's true, I mean I can definitely see the writers wanting to bring back the Master for the 50th anniversary next year, all I was thinking was whether the Master would have a new face :/

Steven Moffat posted this rather cagey response to a Tweet:

Katie Kurtzmanþ@Mythologicalx
@steven_moffat can you either confirm or deny IMDB's claim that @John_simn is coming back to Who?

Steven Moffatþ@steven_moffat
@Mythologicalx Yes, I could do either of those things.

Arrghh!

Katie later realized she had misspelled John's name:
Katie Kurtzmanþ@Mythological
Horror is opening twitter to find you misspelled the glorious name of @John_Simm in a tweet. Which Moffat then replied to. I'M A GENIUS.

I did do a search that way, and that's how I got the three or so that I saw - how odd! ??? But in light of John's response, I agree - :'( .

I suppose we could always cling to the hope that perhaps it is only that particular listing which is nonsense - it doesn't have to mean that he won't be back at all; just not in that particular context... ;D ;D

Seriously, I do think it isn't looking good at the moment.... :(

Moffat is a big tease and I'd take ANYTHING he said with a bucket of salt - he just likes to wind the fans up. He's been known to lie many times ;D
We'll have to wait and see - it was all going on last time and we knew nothing about it until half way through filming, and even then it wasn't a definite (in some people's minds anyway ::)) Fingers crossed for another Simm Master appearance

:( John has not half an hour ago confirmed what some of us feared - that IMdB is false: https://twitter.com/#!/john_simm

I have seen this as well :(
I wonder if he's referring the episode titled in imdb ( which is obviously fake) or did he mean he even won't come back for regeneration?

*wishful thinking* maybe he doesn't want to spoil the surprise ( I'm so in denial phase ;D )

While honestly I would love to see JS come back I can't see him coming back immediately - it honestly seems IMO like the Master is down for the count this time. I will agree also that don't take what either Moffat or JS says as fact, they are probably hiding to build suspense or avoid spoilers.

Sorry that my posts are so infrequent, college = lots of time on other stuff.

I noticed Den of Geek are making assumptions about John's Twitter message...
' It doesn’t seem that we’ll see Simm again in the role, anyway.'
Where does it say that? He said he had no plans to return but that doesn't mean if he's asked he won't do it, surely?
Grasping at straws.. ;D

As I said to John in response to his announcement, that sound that he heard was the sound of millions of hearts breaking all over the world. :(
