Quote: Whereabouts were you sitting timeagent? I was in row B facing the front and to the right of the steps down into the auditorium. What fantastic seats, it was almost like having a private performance of the play as the actors were so close! |

It certainly was It made a change being able to see the expressions on the actors faces, instead of guessing them. I was sat just to the right of the stage, directly next to the steps. When John made his first apperance in the play he (insert action) that was directly infront of me. Hope thats not to criptic, don't want to spoil anything, incase other people have similar seats.

Please tell me that Vlavla was feeling sorry for himself regarding a couple of his tweets and his latest blog. It was his first proper press night.
No details please but some general reassuring noises would go down nicely around about now.

I did read it SH. That's why I'm wondering about the "mixed reviews" part of Valvla's blog.

Sorry, wasn't sure from your post whether you'd read it or not.
I'm quite pleased that there are mixed reviews - being me I tend to find that if everyone raves about it it doesn't live up to my heightened expectations.
And I would guess from reading his blog that Vlavla would take to heart the negative criticisms.

When, you put it that way... I usually take a similar approach and it's also why I don't tend to read reviews about something I'm really looking forward too - I often end up disagreeing with them anyway!

Hey guys
Got back from Sheffield a couple of hours ago and am exhausted. My friend and I ate and got to the theatre for 12.30pm, so we decided to sit outside on one of the huge oval stone things (you’ll see when/if you go) and have a natter. The weather was lovely and there I was gabbing away to my best mate when she wacks me on the arm and stares to the side of me. John is walking past us, shades and brown leather jacket, hot drink in hand and a few bags over his shoulder. He was already looking at my mate (she is thrilled to have been “checked out” by John lol) and so when I looked and tried NOT to gawp, he clocked us both. There was a moment when I just know he was like “Are they going to react?” and he just kept walking, hitching his bags up a little awkwardly as if utterly relieved we’d given him the space he deserves. Needless to say we burst out laughing when he was well out of ear shot and I am still stunned! I just KNEW not to react and thinking back I’m like “Yea gods did I glare/gawp/stare?” because the moment seemed to last forever when in fact it was a few seconds.
The play was incredible and I shall give a full and proper review on the spoilers thread, all I do need to say here is JOHN WAS AS AWESOME AS WE ALL KNEW HE WOULD BE, nuff said here lest I give in to spoilers!
Afterwards we went to the stage door, it was a little manic but I made sure I kept my distance when John (in shades again) came out. I waited my turn and approached him, he took my programme and pen quickly signing it. I told him it was brilliant and he made the part his own. I was interrupted by a weirdo (sorry no other word for him, I swear he was a bit cuckoo) with a Master figure and John said “Sorry mate, I’m not signing any Dr. Who…” (I nearly told the guy myself a few seconds before) I then said something else (I really can’t remember what lol, something like “It was brilliant/incredible.”) and John looked up at me and said like he really meant it “I’m really glad you enjoyed it.” I said thanks and took my programme and pen from him…and then tried not to *THUD*. He is an utter gentleman and professional.
We also met Hugh Ross (Polonius) who is another utter gent who took his time for a chat. John then came out and Hugh Ross said. “Ah, you better go and see Hamlet…” before walking away. A truly, lovely man.
What a day, I'm feeling rather star struck right now and totally emotionally drained by an incredible experience.

Thanks for sharing, angelica! Wow, sounds like a fab experience. And I'm so happy for John that he turned that nutter down.

An awesome account, angelica! Thank you for giving John "the space he deserves". It's great that you reacted instinctively to the old dilemma: "to squee or not to squee--that is the question"! (Sorry...)
