Last time I looked it seemed to be between Sherlock and Britain's Got Talent - which goes to show how popular that show is! Praying that Sherlock gets it. Not sure where John's cover is in the running now but he was certainly well in the top 10. Guess Twitter helped with that! If all 38,000 of his followers voted for him....!!!

I've voted for John's cover.
Sherlock seems a bit od a runaway winner at the moment.

He's a key witness. So could you treat him like a person, Phyllis. D'you remember "people"? You used to be one! ![[image] [image]](http://i1039.photobucket.com/albums/a476/Eleanor_035/John%20Simm/MyJSBannerbyUTD.jpg) Thanks UTD! |

Didn't want to start a new thread and it's Twit-related since that's how I found out about it:
"Peugeot today announces the launch of its ‘Drive Away Happy' campaign. Its aim is to remind people that buying a new car is an exciting and joyful experience.
"The first TV ad spot is scheduled for January 23rd 2012.
"To strengthen brand identity and resonance with new and existing customers, Peugeot is proud to be bringing on board John Simm, UK TV star of ‘Life on Mars' and ‘Dr. Who', in order to enhance consistency across its radio and TV campaigns. Simm's association with Peugeot will continue throughout 2012 with a view to establishing a longer term relationship.
"UK Marketing Director for Peugeot, Morgan Lecoupeur, said: "2012 is set to be a year of regeneration for the Peugeot brand with several exciting new product launches on the horizon including the world's first diesel electric hybrid car and the hugely anticipated new 208. What better way to start than with an optimistic campaign that emphasises the positive emotions associated with driving a new car. In John Simm we have found a talented, credible and instantly recognisable personality and voice, and we look forward to working with him in 2012 as we move the Peugeot brand forward."

Do you think we'll actually see John, or just hear him (which is good enough for me)?
Ah, this confirms he's the voice:

Thanks for that, PP. I tried to find the ad on YouTube last night, but obviously it's just been released. Strange as it is to say this about a TV commercial, I hope the Peugeot ad campaign has a long and profitable run!

John's developing quite a snarky side on Twitter. He's been complaining about a "mozzy" that's been bothering him, and in response to numerous tweets (including one from me) asking him what a "mozzy" is, he tweeted this in response (and I can just see him sighing and rolling his eyes before he tweeted):
Quote:| Blimey. ok, For the MANY who asked... A 'Mozzy' is a Mosquito and i'm in Africa. Ok? Moving on. #dotryandkeepup |
|
Thanks for the translation, John, for those of us who didn't happen to grow up just outside of Manchester!

I don't think it has anything to do with coming from Manchester, legaleagle50.
In case it wasn't already an intuitive shortcut for mosquito, the term "mozzy" was prominently featured all across the UK last year in a public-service ad campaign by the organization Malaria No More. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/vid....-The-Mozzy.html http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gam....ure?INTCMP=SRCH The game itself is here: http://malarianomore.org.uk/swat-the-mozzy
And while Americans might think mozzy is an abbreviated reference to mozzarella cheese or the software company Mozilla, I think lots of people have heard that mosquitoes are called mozzies by Australians [Aussies], (especially when they are wearing swimsuits, or bathing costumes [cozzies]).
Plus, "Do try to keep up" is really a good-natured expression in the best tradition of British humour--not as peevish as it sounds. I know I have seen in in some posts on this forum!

I pretty much logicked out what John meant by mozzy. If I hadn't, I would have googled it.
I'd be hardpressed to maintain a good sense of humor if I were bombarded with the kinds of tweets that John receives. Good on ya, John!

I particularly liked Times writer Caitlin Moran's solution to Mozzy bites... For those of you who maybe don't have a Twitter account, she suggested that he wee on them (on the balcony of his apartment and only after giving her time to ring The Sun newsdesk) - Hilarious

I find that tweets in general are often quite rude, but it's all done tongue-in-cheek. Took me a while to figure out, but I'm used to it now. As for John's 'dotryandkeepup' comment I thought that was hilarious - because in truth I find it ridiculous that we all care so much about every little thing he says...and maybe he does too.

Yes, it is all quite daft really - but so much fun! When you look at who follows who it's fascinating.

John posted this pic to his Twitsite:
![[image] [image]](http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd482/Seamus55/Simmages/Pics%20by%20John%20Simm/CT1-30-12.jpg) john_simm John Simm @seankeaveny as you can see its a bit cloudy today but I suppose I'd better force myself to go to work. http://pic.twitter.com/kagC3kt4
If you haven't joined Twitter, you might want to just to follow John. He's entertaining and relatively prolific with 381 tweets so far.
And not a bad photographer!
