That snowy scene is beautiful. I do like snow but am glad there hasn't been any snow and ice so far after last year...brrrrr...

I always find it quite surreal when it snows. I think it's the silence during heavily falling snow, especially as in the UK we're used to the sound of rain on too many days of the year.

Snow is weird - I have very mixed feelings about it, actually! I hate how it tends to bring things grinding to a shuddering (or should that be sliding?!) halt in this country; hate how it can take me two hours to make a seven mile journey to work (like last year!) or stops me getting in at all (which would be great except we don't get paid unless we make it in and are then sent home again).

BUT there is something surreal and magical about it - it changes the whole landscape and even at its most treacherous, it can look beautiful... I'm okay about driving in it up to a point (the first couple of days I find it quite exciting but by the end of the week I'm heartily sick of how much of an effort getting about in it becomes!) and of course as one gets *ahem* older there is the fear of falling and breaking something...

This morning the roads were very icy - it had rained and then frozen, yikes! At times like that I am SO glad I don't live at the top (or the bottom) of a steep hill...

imaof4, I love the falling-snow pic. Of course, it helps that it's a sylvan setting and not a congested road we're looking at!
Given that snow is often messy and exasperating and stress inducing, maybe it will help if we think of it falling peacefully (somewhere) as in this picture.

Thanks for posting that, and for the "Simmply Having a Wonderful Christmastime", as your Christmas card to us all!

Heavy snow is definitely not compatible with driving - ice is just out of the question. ???

I live in a temperate climate. Weell, at least I thought so until the year we had three consecutive blizzards with over 30.48 cm each!!! Most winters, we might get a dusting of snow, and yet the populace still panics!! :D

That tendency '...to bring things grinding to a shuddering (or should that be sliding?!) halt...' edzel2 makes mention happens precisely in areas that aren't accustomed to regular precipitation of snow.

Ideally, I enjoy a nice soft snow of no more than about 15 cm and no need to go anywhere. Schools have a tendency to close under such conditions 'round here, so I'm terribly, terribly (I did mention terribly) spoilt. ;D

So, for the present, I'll keep my idealised notion of snow, until reality hits and I'll moan about it like everyone else! :D

Glad you like the song choice UTD and olenza!

We had a lovely walk down by the canal yesterday afternoon which ended with some mulled wine for me in The King's Ransom and a quicker trip back on the tram for us all. Hope eveyone is enjoying the festive season.

I live in Arizona, where it is currently 61 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius.) What is this "snow" of which you speak? ???

Actually, jinxed, I've always said that I have to have snow for that week between Christmas and New Year's Day -- but come January 2, I want it GONE! ;D
